Don’t Be Vulnerable To Bluetooth Hacking
June 7th, 2010Bluetooth Hacking is extremely popular these days especially
with the software that are available to hackers.
Of course, it makes people vulnerable to Bluetooth hack
because of the cell phone units and laptops that have Bluetooth
devices in them. These hackers are now equipped to gain access
to any Bluetooth device made available to them.
Bluetooth works when two Bluetooth enabled devices
communicate with each other. Before they can do that, they need
to be able to find each other first. The Bluetooth device
should be made available so they can be found by the other
Bluetooth device. However, this is also the time when the cell
phone or laptop is vulnerable for attacks.
Most cell phone units are the ones who have fallen victim to
Bluetooth hacking. There are many kinds of attacks and they can
either be in the following forms: bluesnarfing, bluejacking and
bluebugging. Bluesnarfing means unauthorized access to a
Bluetooth enabled device so the person could steal personal
information or files. We can protect ourselves from
bluesnarfing if our phones are not in discoverable mode.
Another type of bluetooth hacking is bluejacking which is
relatively harmless as it only involves somebody sending you an
electronic business card. The one who has sent you that card is
probably in the same room with you. Last but not the least is
Bluebugging, which is another type of bluetooth hacking. It
enables the person to listen in on your phone conversations,
make calls and send or receive text messages using your
account. This is quite similar to the first type but this is
more used on the older types of phones.
